Yuchen Hou 侯宇辰 (He/They) is a multimedia conceptual artist from China. He is currently based in Oakland California. His practice often begins with functional materials, transforming them from their intended use into something meant to be seen, touched, and felt. His materials are the result of chance encounters, carrying quiet traces of time and emotion. By questioning why these materials draw his attention and what they reveal about the environments they belong to, he finds an internal coherence between feeling and form.

While personal, his work invites viewers to think about how materials carry emotion and connect us to our communities and the world at large. Through small gestures of collecting, touching, and transforming, he reflects on how care, memory, and attachment persist within everyday life.
